National Theatre, South Bank, London
The National Theatre’s first ever artist-in-residence, Curtis Holder, has explored every corner of the theatre’s vast backstage areas selecting ‘makers’ to be part of this solo exhibition. The artworks are a love letter to the dynamic creatives who work behind the scenes to bring the productions to life.
His subjects range from wigs, hair and make-up assistants, to prop and puppet makers, costume makers, technicians, and a stage door supervisor. Normally it’s their work that captivates audiences, but this exhibition puts them centre-stage and celebrates the people behind the craft.
