‘Portrait of Peter Innocent I’ by Curtis Holder receives the Highly Commended Award at the Society of Graphic Fine Art Centenary Exhibition

I am honoured that my drawing ‘Portrait of Peter Innocent I’ has been chosen for the Highly Commended Award at the Society of Graphic Fine Art’s ‘Centenary Exhibition Unlocked’.

The drawing was the culmination of a series of long, reflective support bubble sittings with my friend and fellow artist Peter Kelly during the winter months of the Covid-19 lockdown.

A heartfelt thank you to Philip Athill of Abbott and Holder for selecting the work for its ‘lovely mark making’. The generous prize sponsored by Jackson’s Art Supplies will be put to very good use stocking up on pencils.

The exhibition is open until 11 July where you’ll be able to view my winning work, alongside another of my selected drawings ‘Friday’. I’d thoroughly recommend a trip to see the show which is a feast of drawing talent, with brilliant works on display in a huge range of styles and mediums. The Society of Graphic Fine Art was established in 1919 and is the UK’s only art society that focuses exclusively on drawing. It exists to promote and exhibit high quality works with the emphasis on good draughtsmanship.
