Curtis Holder joins 100 artists in groundbreaking national art project ‘The World Reimagined’ exploring racial justice
I am honoured to be one of 100 commissioned artists taking part in The World Reimagined, a ground-breaking UK-wide project that aims to transform our understanding of the transatlantic slave trade and its impact.
I was invited to create one of 103 unique globe artworks that will go on display in cities across the UK from August to October 2022.
My work ‘Echoes Talk Back’ will be situated outside the Guildhall Art Gallery in the City of London, where it will form part of one of four art trails in the capital linking London boroughs including the City of Westminster, Camden, Lambeth, Newham, and Southwark.
Alongside London, there will be globe trails in six other cities across the UK: Birmingham, Bristol, Leeds, Leicester, Liverpool City Region and Swansea.
Each trail will feature 10 globe sculptures, creating a 60-90 minute route for members of the public to explore.
The globes aim to inspire and galvanise communities to better understand what it means to be Black and British; bringing to life the reality and impact of the transatlantic slave trade by remembering the past, whilst still moving forward.
You can find out more about the globes and the trails on The World Reimagined website.
